Job description
Role overview: The Project Management Specialist - Manufacturing Operations is based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and supports production schedules, supplier coordination, and operating performance. This position combines hands-on execution with reliable documentation and collaboration across operational and technical teams.
Responsibilities: Define milestones, maintain schedules and budgets, track dependencies, and coordinate delivery decisions. Apply these responsibilities to production schedules, supplier coordination, and operating performance. Work with process owners to respect plant change-control procedures and production continuity requirements. Identify problems early, record the evidence behind recommendations, and coordinate handoffs so agreed work is completed accurately.
ROLE-SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate manufacturing improvement projects from approved scope through operational handover. Maintain milestone schedules, dependency maps, budgets, and risk registers for equipment, process, or capacity changes. Align engineering, procurement, production, and quality activities around realistic shutdown windows. Track supplier deliverables and change requests, record decisions, and escalate schedule conflicts early. Confirm that training, documentation, and acceptance criteria are complete before closing project phases.
Qualifications: 2+ years of relevant professional experience or equivalent demonstrated project work. Demonstrated capability in project planning, risk registers, stakeholder communication, and budget tracking. Experience supporting manufacturing operations is preferred. Ability to document decisions, communicate clearly, and handle business information responsibly.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates should be able to explain how they have used project planning, risk registers, stakeholder communication, and budget tracking in practical work. Relevant experience may come from employment, consulting engagements, apprenticeships, or substantial projects. Bring examples of how you resolved an operational problem, checked the accuracy of your work, and communicated a recommendation to colleagues with different responsibilities. Familiarity with the industry is valuable, and the ability to learn unfamiliar processes and ask precise questions is equally important.
FIRST 90 DAYS
Validate a project baseline with functional owners, identify critical dependencies, and establish consistent progress and risk reporting. During onboarding, review existing documentation, meet the people who depend on this role, and confirm priorities with your manager. Agree on a realistic delivery plan, record dependencies, and share progress regularly. Success will be evaluated through the quality of completed work, reliable follow-through, and improvements to the specific process or service assigned to you.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
Work collaboratively with operational stakeholders and subject-matter experts. Keep decisions, unresolved questions, and handoffs documented so others can continue work without unnecessary delays. Raise conflicting priorities early and propose practical next steps. Maintain confidentiality and use approved systems when handling customer, employee, or business information.
Work arrangement: Full-Time, On-site in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Estimated annual cash compensation: USD 87,000 to 117,500.
