Job description

Role overview: The Software Engineer - Travel Services is based in Fort Smith, Arkansas and supports booking workflows, traveler support, and supplier coordination. This position combines hands-on execution with reliable documentation and collaboration across operational and technical teams. Responsibilities: Design service interfaces, implement tested application code, review pull requests, and resolve production defects. Apply these responsibilities to booking workflows, traveler support, and supplier coordination. Work with process owners to manage schedule changes and maintain accurate customer communication histories. Identify problems early, record the evidence behind recommendations, and coordinate handoffs so agreed work is completed accurately. ROLE-SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES Develop booking and itinerary services that remain reliable when external travel providers respond slowly or return inconsistent data. Implement validation for date, availability, pricing, and cancellation workflows. Design safe retry behavior and clear customer-facing error handling. Write automated tests for supplier integration edge cases and concurrent booking requests. Collaborate with support teams to diagnose incidents and improve visibility into reservation state changes. Qualifications: 2+ years of relevant professional experience or equivalent demonstrated project work. Demonstrated capability in APIs, automated testing, Git, and one production programming language. Experience supporting travel services is preferred. Ability to document decisions, communicate clearly, and handle business information responsibly. ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS Candidates should be able to explain how they have used APIs, automated testing, Git, and one production programming language in practical work. Relevant experience may come from employment, consulting engagements, apprenticeships, or substantial projects. Bring examples of how you resolved an operational problem, checked the accuracy of your work, and communicated a recommendation to colleagues with different responsibilities. Familiarity with the industry is valuable, and the ability to learn unfamiliar processes and ask precise questions is equally important. FIRST 90 DAYS Document a supplier integration, strengthen its failure-path tests, and release an improvement that reduces avoidable booking exceptions. During onboarding, review existing documentation, meet the people who depend on this role, and confirm priorities with your manager. Agree on a realistic delivery plan, record dependencies, and share progress regularly. Success will be evaluated through the quality of completed work, reliable follow-through, and improvements to the specific process or service assigned to you. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS Work collaboratively with operational stakeholders and subject-matter experts. Keep decisions, unresolved questions, and handoffs documented so others can continue work without unnecessary delays. Raise conflicting priorities early and propose practical next steps. Maintain confidentiality and use approved systems when handling customer, employee, or business information. Work arrangement: Full-Time, On-site in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Estimated annual cash compensation: USD 115,500 to 156,500. APPLICATION DETAILS Applications close November 2, 2027. Staffing agency submissions are welcome. Submit a resume that describes relevant responsibilities, tools used, and measurable outcomes. The hiring organization is confidential during the initial application stage.
