Job description
Role overview: The Facilities Manager - Property Management is based in Bozeman, Montana and supports tenant communications, maintenance requests, and property reporting. This position combines hands-on execution with reliable documentation and collaboration across operational and technical teams.
Responsibilities: Coordinate building maintenance, prioritize repairs, manage facilities vendors, and maintain operational records. Apply these responsibilities to tenant communications, maintenance requests, and property reporting. Work with process owners to coordinate vendor access and maintain accurate location-specific records. Identify problems early, record the evidence behind recommendations, and coordinate handoffs so agreed work is completed accurately.
ROLE-SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee preventive maintenance, corrective repairs, and vendor coordination across managed properties. Review tenant service requests, prioritize issues by urgency, and communicate expected access windows and resolution steps. Maintain equipment records, inspect completed contractor work, and reconcile invoices against approved scope. Develop repair-versus-replace recommendations using service history and lifecycle cost. Coordinate with property teams on turnover work, planned outages, and building access.
Qualifications: 5+ years of relevant experience, including ownership of a team, budget, or substantial service program. Demonstrated capability in preventive maintenance planning, vendor oversight, work orders, and facility budgeting. Experience supporting property management is preferred. Ability to document decisions, communicate clearly, and handle business information responsibly.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates should be able to explain how they have used preventive maintenance planning, vendor oversight, work orders, and facility budgeting in practical work. Relevant experience may come from employment, consulting engagements, apprenticeships, or substantial projects. Bring examples of how you resolved an operational problem, checked the accuracy of your work, and communicated a recommendation to colleagues with different responsibilities. Familiarity with the industry is valuable, and the ability to learn unfamiliar processes and ask precise questions is equally important.
FIRST 90 DAYS
Establish a current maintenance backlog, identify recurring equipment failures, and improve visibility into vendor completion and repair spending. During onboarding, review existing documentation, meet the people who depend on this role, and confirm priorities with your manager. Agree on a realistic delivery plan, record dependencies, and share progress regularly. Success will be evaluated through the quality of completed work, reliable follow-through, and improvements to the specific process or service assigned to you.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
Work collaboratively with operational stakeholders and subject-matter experts. Keep decisions, unresolved questions, and handoffs documented so others can continue work without unnecessary delays. Raise conflicting priorities early and propose practical next steps. Maintain confidentiality and use approved systems when handling customer, employee, or business information.
Work arrangement: Full-Time, On-site in Bozeman, Montana. Estimated annual cash compensation: USD 90,500 to 122,500.
