Job description
Role overview: The Network Support Specialist - Healthcare Services is based in Charleston, South Carolina and supports patient access, appointment coordination, and service availability. This position combines hands-on execution with reliable documentation and collaboration across operational and technical teams.
Responsibilities: Troubleshoot connectivity, analyze network logs, configure approved devices, and assist with scheduled maintenance. Apply these responsibilities to patient access, appointment coordination, and service availability. Work with process owners to protect sensitive records and distinguish administrative work from clinical decisions. Identify problems early, record the evidence behind recommendations, and coordinate handoffs so agreed work is completed accurately.
ROLE-SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Support connectivity across healthcare offices, administrative systems, and approved clinical technology environments. Diagnose wired and wireless issues using network tools and documented troubleshooting procedures. Investigate DNS, DHCP, routing, and access problems while coordinating changes with application owners. Record incident timelines and service impacts, escalate outages promptly, and verify restoration with users. Schedule maintenance carefully and protect confidential information encountered during support work.
Qualifications: 1+ year of relevant experience or equivalent practical training. Demonstrated capability in TCP/IP, DNS, network diagnostics, and incident documentation. Experience supporting healthcare services is preferred. Ability to document decisions, communicate clearly, and handle business information responsibly.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates should be able to explain how they have used TCP/IP, DNS, network diagnostics, and incident documentation in practical work. Relevant experience may come from employment, consulting engagements, apprenticeships, or substantial projects. Bring examples of how you resolved an operational problem, checked the accuracy of your work, and communicated a recommendation to colleagues with different responsibilities. Familiarity with the industry is valuable, and the ability to learn unfamiliar processes and ask precise questions is equally important.
FIRST 90 DAYS
Learn the network topology and escalation process, improve incident documentation, and resolve a recurring connectivity problem. During onboarding, review existing documentation, meet the people who depend on this role, and confirm priorities with your manager. Agree on a realistic delivery plan, record dependencies, and share progress regularly. Success will be evaluated through the quality of completed work, reliable follow-through, and improvements to the specific process or service assigned to you.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
Work collaboratively with operational stakeholders and subject-matter experts. Keep decisions, unresolved questions, and handoffs documented so others can continue work without unnecessary delays. Raise conflicting priorities early and propose practical next steps. Maintain confidentiality and use approved systems when handling customer, employee, or business information.
Work arrangement: Full-Time, On-site in Charleston, South Carolina. Estimated annual cash compensation: USD 65,000 to 87,500.
