Job description
Role overview: The Marketing Manager - Food Distribution is based in Boston, Massachusetts and supports order fulfillment, inventory visibility, and delivery coordination. This position combines hands-on execution with reliable documentation and collaboration across operational and technical teams.
Responsibilities: Set campaign priorities, manage marketing budgets, guide creative execution, and evaluate channel performance. Apply these responsibilities to order fulfillment, inventory visibility, and delivery coordination. Work with process owners to maintain product traceability and account for time-sensitive inventory. Identify problems early, record the evidence behind recommendations, and coordinate handoffs so agreed work is completed accurately.
ROLE-SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop marketing programs that support food-distribution customer acquisition, retention, and product adoption. Coordinate campaigns with sales teams, supplier partners, and merchandising staff. Translate product availability and customer needs into practical campaign plans, avoiding promises that operations cannot fulfill. Manage budgets, evaluate channel performance, and improve segmentation using available customer data. Maintain clear campaign briefs, review creative work, and connect results to qualified demand and account engagement.
Qualifications: 5+ years of relevant experience, including ownership of a team, budget, or substantial service program. Demonstrated capability in campaign strategy, marketing analytics, budget ownership, and team coordination. Experience supporting food distribution is preferred. Ability to document decisions, communicate clearly, and handle business information responsibly.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates should be able to explain how they have used campaign strategy, marketing analytics, budget ownership, and team coordination in practical work. Relevant experience may come from employment, consulting engagements, apprenticeships, or substantial projects. Bring examples of how you resolved an operational problem, checked the accuracy of your work, and communicated a recommendation to colleagues with different responsibilities. Familiarity with the industry is valuable, and the ability to learn unfamiliar processes and ask precise questions is equally important.
FIRST 90 DAYS
Audit campaign performance, agree on target customer segments, and launch a measurable campaign with sales follow-through. During onboarding, review existing documentation, meet the people who depend on this role, and confirm priorities with your manager. Agree on a realistic delivery plan, record dependencies, and share progress regularly. Success will be evaluated through the quality of completed work, reliable follow-through, and improvements to the specific process or service assigned to you.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
Work collaboratively with operational stakeholders and subject-matter experts. Keep decisions, unresolved questions, and handoffs documented so others can continue work without unnecessary delays. Raise conflicting priorities early and propose practical next steps. Maintain confidentiality and use approved systems when handling customer, employee, or business information.
Work arrangement: Full-Time, On-site in Boston, Massachusetts. Estimated annual cash compensation: USD 142,000 to 192,000.
